October 23, 2012
(Arlington, VA) Scott Pearl, the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ (AFP) new chief marketing officer, has been named to Social Media Marketing Magazine’s list of the top 100 CMOs on Twitter around the world.
The list identifies the top 100 chief marketing officers who provide useful content; engage with followers; and “get it,” according to Social Media Marketing, when it comes to the best ways to use Twitter. It was Pearl’s first appearance on the list, and he is currently ranked 80th. “This is a tremendous honor,” stated Pearl.
Pearl started with AFP in late August and is leading the association’s communications, branding and marketing, including the International Conference on Fundraising, and the organization’s partnership efforts. He will be focusing on developing new opportunities for AFP in order to provide more services to members and increase public awareness of the importance of fundraising and philanthropy.
“We’re excited to have Scott join us at AFP,” said Andrew Watt, FInstF, president and CEO of AFP. “He brings a set of unmatched skills from across industries and sectors, and we see huge potential for AFP as Scott joins the team. He will help us provide valuable services to the profession and position AFP as the leading association for fundraising and philanthropy.”
Pearl is a senior executive with experience across industries. He built successful startups, served in leadership roles with businesses of all sizes and developed successful campaigns in the nonprofit sector. He currently sits on advisory boards of startups and emerging companies, one of which is backed by several venture funds, and he recently completed a board-level consulting engagement at an award winning digital agency, specializing in creating online experiences for top nonprofit and commercial clients.
