National Capital Philanthropy Day is an annual celebration of the Washington, DC region’s individuals, nonprofits, volunteers, businesses, and fundraising professionals whose philanthropic contributions are the foundation of our community. We are grateful to the many outstanding individuals, businesses and nonprofits that make the Capital region a better place to live because of their commitment to the vital role philanthropy plays in our daily lives.
On November 12, 2013, more than 600 senior business executives, philanthropists, professional fundraisers, volunteers, and the media will gather for the 12th annual National Capital Philanthropy Day at the JW Marriott hotel in Washington, D.C. National Capital Philanthropy Day is part of over 200 similar celebrations happening worldwide at the beginning of November in honor of Philanthropy Day, recognized on November 15th world-wide by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
A Community-Wide Event
While many individual organizations honor their own supporters in the greater Washington, DC area, National Capital Philanthropy Day offers community-wide visibility and public recognition of individuals, companies, and foundations committed to philanthropy. Through their passion, dedication, and leadership, these outstanding leaders are improving the quality of life in the metropolitan region, and are making the world a better place for all.

Recognizing Regional Leaders in Philanthropy
Six distinguished awards are presented at the event: Outstanding Philanthropist, Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer, Outstanding Corporate Partner, Outstanding Foundation Partner, Outstanding Diversity Leader, and Outstanding Fundraising Professional. Nonprofit organizations and associations based in the Washington, DC region are invited to nominate individuals and organizations for this regional recognition.
Honor Your Own Program
Recognize, appreciate and thank that special volunteer, donor, funder or fundraising professional by joining this prestigious tradition of celebrating philanthropy. As part of National Capital Philanthropy Day, organizations attending the luncheon were invited to publicly recognize their own exemplary philanthropic supporters by participating in the Honor Your Own celebration. This program provides a unique opportunity for area nonprofits and companies to enjoy a special and memorable event with their most important donors and professionals. Honoree(s) are recognized from the podium before hundreds of community leaders during the event and on the NCPD website. They are also highlighted in the National Capital Philanthropy Day program book and receive a recognition award. Click here for more information.
