Deborah Peeples, CFRE, VP, Philanthropy, Humane Society of the United States
Deborah Peeples was appointed VP, Philanthropy for the Humane Society of the United States, the nation's largest animal protection organization fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education, and hands-on programs, in 2010. For three decades, Deborah has helped to advance the missions of not-for-profit organizations by developing and stewarding donors; engaging boards and volunteers, implementing best practices; and training staff. Deborah has served as Director of Development; Vice President, Philanthropy; President, Foundation; and Executive Director with the Northeast Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross; WETA TV/FM; Capital Caring; and Iona Senior Services. As a senior consultant, Deborah has helped national and local nonprofit organizations succeed with capital campaigns and build capacity through development assessments, annual fund planning and board development. In 2008, Deborah was honored as the Outstanding Fund Raising Professional of the Year by the Washington, DC Chapter of AFP. She received her B.A., M.A. and Ed. S. degrees from the University of Florida, Gainesville and achieved her status as a CFRE in 1992.
